The seats are larger than other lightweight double strollers and the canopy has large SPF 50 sunshades that have peekaboo windows. Weight

The weight of a double buggy is one the most important factors that determine its ease to push. A lighter buggy is more easy to lift and carry but it might not have as much suspension to withstand bumps and uneven terrain.

Make sure to read the specifications of each model carefully before purchasing. Certain double buggies have the capacity to hold a maximum weight of a person, while others have an overall frame limit. Some also fold with seats removed, making them even smaller and lighter this can be beneficial when storage space is at a premium.

The tri-fold doubles tend to be the lightest models as only one hand is needed to lift the bottom and back sections. They're also a bit smaller than side-byside buggies, making them an ideal choice to fit through doors. The iCandy Geo 3 is one of the lightest trifold doubles on the market. It can comfortably hold twins or a toddler and baby.

Tandem buggies are initially a single pushchair but come with adapters that allow you to add a second seat, carrycot or car seat which makes them a great option for growing families. Some models, like the iCandy Orange, offer over 30 seating configurations so they can adapt to your family up to the age of a third child. Doubles are heavier than tri-folds but because the weight is more evenly distributed, they are easier to move around.

Folding

The most compact double buggies fold up easily in a matter of minutes. This feature is appreciated by our Lab experts as it allows them to fit the buggies in the back of their cars and conserve space when not being used. For instance the Joovy Kooper X2 has straps on each seat that are able to be pulled up, and the entire thing folds down. it's a trifold that even our most senior testers could do with one hand.

The lightweight Delta Children LX Side by Side is another great option for a small double buggies. Its lightweight weight is an advantage however, so are its key features including large pop-out canopy with SPF 50 and peekaboo windows; swing-away bars that aid youngsters get in and out of the seats; and reclined seats and leg rests for younger kids.

Manoeuvrability

When choosing a small double stroller, you need to consider its maneuverability. This includes the ease for both children to be able to ride in the buggy. Some pushchairs, such as the iCandy Orange with its 'cinema seating' (where the back seat is elevated) are more efficient at this than other models.

Buggies with narrow tandems can be excellent at this as can side-byside designs. However, they can be more substantial overall, and therefore could be tricky to maneuver through doors.

The UPPAbaby Vista 2 pushchair is an excellent example, considering that it is a relatively small model that has two additional seats, and more importantly, the pillion board, which can accommodate a third child.

Other smaller, three wheeled models, such as the phil&teds Dot, are also extremely agile. This is especially true with its clever "dot kit" which transforms it into an inline buggie. This has a couple of different seating configurations for kids with different ages. It even allows the front seat to rotate to face parents, allowing for the ultimate face-to-face bonding time. It also comes with a storage basket and is easy to fold. This is a great choice for growing families.
